Ask me anything, I'll answer it straight
What is this and how does it work?
What exactly do you do?
I'm your GTM and Sales Ops in one. I step into your live deals and close them, and I build the sales motion underneath at the same time, discovery, follow-up, pricing, the system, all of it. By the time I step back, you own a motion that runs without you carrying every deal.
Can I just hand sales off to you completely?
No, and I'd be lying if I said otherwise. The motion only becomes truly yours if you stay involved, especially on the product and technical side. I do the heavy lifting, but this works because we build it together, not because you disappear from it.
What happens in the first few weeks?
We start with a 90-minute kickoff, where you walk me through the product and we go deep on your current sales motion, what's working and what isn't, and set the goals, deliverables, and actions for the first weeks and the engagement as a whole. From there, I get deep into your product, your live deals, and your pipeline, find where the motion is actually breaking, and start fixing it and getting into real deals fast. On the Revenue Engine, I also begin sourcing your SDR in the first month.
How do you get me an SDR?
Through a SALT-trusted recruiting partner. They source the right person, who's hired onto your team, not mine. I set the outbound strategy and support them day to day, but they run the outbounding.
What stays with you, and what do I take on?
You stay the technical authority and the face of the company. I take the commercial motion, the deals, and building the system around them.
What's expected of me?
Your cooperation and a bit of your time, mostly product and technical depth, plus the trust to let me run the commercial side. That's the whole deal, and it's why the motion ends up genuinely yours.
What does it cost?
How much does it cost?
Two clear offers, each a monthly retainer plus 10% of the first-year ARR I help close. The DealRoom is 8k a month, the lighter way in, where I get into your live deals without the full build. Your Revenue Engine is 10k a month for the full build, the motion plus a recruited SDR, and I take 2k off your first month. For the companies that don't fit a box, there's The Exception. It's all laid out on the pricing page, no "book a call to find out."
How do the recruiting partner's fees work?
The SDR is recruited by my partner and hired onto your team. They charge a placement fee, a percentage of first-year salary, paid by you to them, never marked up on my invoice. Because they work with SALT, you get a preferential rate.
What if we need you for a shorter time?
The DealRoom is the lighter way in, I get into your live deals without the full build, so you can start smaller and see how it feels before committing to anything bigger.
What if we need you for longer?
We extend, or shape something custom. Most builds run four to nine months to get the motion holding reliably, and we can go from there.
Do I keep paying you after you leave?
No. There's no management fee once I step out. You keep the system, any materials I created during that time, and the motion design.
What if it doesn't work out?
Do you guarantee results?
No, and here's the honest why: the outcome depends on us working it together, so I won't sell you a commission-only promise or a made-up number. What I do promise: if things don't land the way we hoped, you get two strategy sessions with me after I've off-boarded, free, to help keep the motion holding.
I've been burned before. Why should I trust you?
You should be skeptical, and I'd guard against it too. If what you want is someone to hand you a deck and vanish, you're right to be careful. The difference here is that I'm in your actual deals, my name is on the door as founder and CEO, the motion is built with you and stays in-house, and I'll tell you early if we're not a fit instead of dragging you through a pitch.
What if it's the wrong fit?
I take only a couple of engagements at a time, and I'd rather say so early than sell you. If we start and it clearly isn't working, I'll tell you straight rather than run out the clock.
Isn't bringing in an outsider with no stake risky?
Fair worry. But because the motion is built with you, inside your company, the knowledge and ownership stay on your side the whole time. Nothing walks out the door when I do.
How is this less risky than a hire that fails?
A first sales hire is a six-figure bet, and roughly 70% don't last the year. I build the motion first, so any hire lands in something that works, instead of you betting the whole thing on one person and a job spec.
Will this actually work for my business?
Is my business too young or too early for this?
Being early is usually an advantage. We get to build the motion the right way before any bad habits set in, which is far easier than unpicking a broken one later on. I've spent years closing well past quota, at times up to 400% of it, and I learned selling inside my parents' business, so building from the ground up is familiar territory. And the DealRoom keeps this within reach while you're still small.
When does someone like you make more sense than a full-time hire or a fractional VP of Sales, CRO, or Head of GTM?
A full-time leader has to build from nothing, ramps three to six months at 150k to 250k, and often doesn't survive the year. A fractional advises one slice and won't get in your deals. I do the job your stage actually needs, build the motion and close in it, live, then hand it over. You hire full-time once there's a working motion to hire into, which is the thing I build.
What kinds of companies do you work with?
Seed to Series A B2B SaaS, founder-led sales, real demand, deals worth 25k to 250k, mostly across North America, occasionally with companies in other territories too.
What if my product is highly technical?
Good, that's the norm for me. I run the commercial side, and you or an engineer stay the technical authority. It's exactly how the medtech engagement worked.
What if I already have, or had, a sales team?
Then we figure out why the motion isn't performing and rebuild it, and I can support and onboard the people you already have rather than start from scratch.
How is this different from hiring an SDR or AE myself?
An SDR or AE dropped into no motion usually fails, because there's nothing for them to step into. I build the motion first, and on the Revenue Engine I recruit and onboard the SDR into it, so they land in something that actually works.
What do you do differently?
Here's what I do that most in this space won't
- I get into your live deals and actually close. Most advisors, agencies, and fractionals hand you a strategy, book a few meetings, or build a deck. I do the selling itself, in your real deals, next to you. It's the part almost everyone avoids, and it's the part that moves revenue.
- I close on trust, not tactics. No pressure, no false urgency, none of the sales-bro games on your buyers. Your relationships and your reputation are safe with me, because that's the only way I know how to sell.
- GTM and Sales Ops in one, built around you, not off a shelf. I diagnose what your specific motion needs and build it around your product, your buyers, and your deals.
- I don't hand you a deck and disappear. The motion is built with you and stays in-house, and if it doesn't land the way we hoped, you get two sessions with me afterward, free.
- My name is on the door. I'm the founder and CEO of SALT, and I'm who you work with day to day. However it goes, it's on me.
- I learned this as a craft and I've done it at the sharp end. Before SALT I was closing consistently past quota, at times up to 400% of it, and I didn't pick sales up from a course, I grew up inside my parents' business watching trust get built with clients.
- I actually want you to win. I get properly into my clients' products and I'm generous and loyal with the people I work with, because none of this holds without real trust.
- I'll tell you no. I take only a couple of engagements at a time, and if we're not a fit I'll say so early.
You should be skeptical. Plenty of people here overpromise and vanish. So look at how straight I'm being before you've paid a cent, and ask what the work feels like once we actually start.
